This weekend I celebrated turning 26. I love a good birthday celebration, but birthdays also tend to be a bit stressful for me – herding different friends to one location can be a bit dizzying. I did have the best birthday I could’ve hoped for, with friends visiting, going to a delicious (and indulgent) dinner on the Georgetown waterfront, and a lovely (albeit hot) evening having drinks on a rooftop.
The older I get, the more I enjoy the simple treats rather than the extravagant ones. Indulging in a manicure or grabbing lunch with a friend are far more meaningful than a big blowout event. That’s why when treating myself, I like to stick to the little luxuries! Shop a few of my favorite things to treat myself to – whether it’s my birthday, or just a Monday that needs a good pick-me-up. (Pssst, a lot of these will double for fabulous Mother’s Day gifts!)
Chloé Eau de Parfum Pen Spray: Something about smelling lovely makes you feel lovely, too.
Slip Silk Eye Mask: For getting some much needed shut eye.
Diptyque Baies Mini Candle: Mood lighting and a gorgeous scent.
Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille Honey Bath: Turn on the tub, add bubbles, and relax.
Aerie Satin Slip Nightie: A little something sweet to lounge around in.
Smith & Cult Nail Lacquer: A good manicure in my go-to nail color is always needed.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Mask: After a weekend of drinks and less than ideal sleep, an eye mask does the trick.
Fresh Rose Face Mask: This stuff is magical for revitalizing tired skin.
Charbonnel et Walker Pink Marc de Champagne Truffles: Cupcakes are good, but champagne truffles are better.
