Fall floral

Can you believe we’re approaching the last week of October! Time has absolutely flown lately; the weeks are flying by, and before you know it we’ll be in the middle of the holiday season. Who else has already started making their holiday shopping lists? (I’m kind of a freak about it.)

Fashionable finds

The weekend is upon us, and I couldn’t be more grateful! (Even though it’s snowing here. UGH.) Tonight I am heading to Philadelphia to visit my best friend Raquel, so I’ve been eager for Friday to get here. This week I tried some new food, shopped around for amazing deals (as always) and found a great beauty product that will definitely be a staple:

A friend ordered this when we were out to breakfast one day and I was so intrigued. It looks like pudding with some little seeds in it, which is essentially what it tastes like. I know that chia seeds are great for you (according to WebMD they contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, antioxidants, and calcium – it doesn’t get much better than that) so I wanted to give it a try. I decided that rather than run the risk of trying it in public and hating it, I’d make my own.

I went to Trader Joe’s to get the chia seeds because they sell smaller bags that aren’t as expensive as any other regular grocery store ($5). The ‘pudding’ is super easy to make – you mix seeds, almond milk and flavors of your choosing. I made mine especially sweet to be certain I’d like the flavor – I ended up loving it! All you have to do is mix the ingredients, put the lid on and let it sit overnight. I also added some strawberries and almonds to make it a full breakfast.

1/4 c chia seeds || 1 c vanilla almond milk || 1 Tbsp honey
1/2 Tbsp vanilla extract || 1 Splenda packet

I paint my nails more often than most; I can’t stand having chipped nails, so I tend to use a lot of nail polish remover. I found this Zoya Remove+ nail polish remover ($9) and loved the idea of a pump where you just push the cotton ball onto the top. It’s super easy to use, and the nail polish remover works very well without drying out your nails.

I don’t know why, but I can’t seem to stop buying clothes that I know I can’t wear yet. It must be the incredibly good sales on just about everything – Target had dresses for buy-one-get-one-half-off, and ASOS consistently has gorgeous dresses on sale! If you’re looking for great finds, I’m always posting crazy deals on my ‘Fashionable Steals’ Pinterest board.

Also, who else take photos of yourself in clothes to get the best idea of how it looks on you? “I don’t rely on mirrors so I always take Polaroids” may be outdated from the days when Cher Horowitz was our idol, but pictures are really the best way to decide if you’re keeping it or returning it. (And I just happened to absolutely love every single one of these!)

I can’t stop buying pretty pastels to paint my nails with. For whatever reason I’m just completely avoiding the dark colors I usually love and I’m going for these pretty shades! I love changing up my nail color often, but I’ll definitely be staying in this color family in the near future (until summer comes and it’s all about bright pinks and oranges!).

Week in review

We made it – it’s finally Friday. I had a pretty uneventful week, mostly filled with work and some online shopping here and there. I tried a new gym class, picked up a couple of new items and found a new hairstyle to try out…

While the weather is warming, we’re still getting tons of precipitation in Maryland. Hence the need for cute rain attire. I bought these J.Crew Chelsea Leopard Rain Boots and I’m in love! It seems that they were simply made for easy walking. The short height make these the perfect boots for running around town on a rainy day. They are originally $68, but they’re on sale for $25 (code SALELOVE). They also come in navy and safari in limited sizes if you’re looking for a more classic pair.

Iced coffee is by far my favorite way to drink the delicious caffeinated beverage, but it’s always been an expensive habit. Thankfully I’ve discovered that Starbucks is now offering Brewed to Personalize Iced Coffee, and you can pick it up at your nearest grocery store for about $5. It gives you about six 8-ounce servings, equaling out to about $0.83 a cup. Much more affordable than the $2 I’d usually spend on a cup in-store!

I have always heard of the wonders of Pilates from friends, magazines and celebrities, but I had never tried it out. My gym offers free classes so I decided to give it a go. Let me tell you – it’s basically yoga with a little extra burn and much quicker results! My abs were feeling the pain the day after, and I was happy to feel some improvement in my core strength even after one class.

It’s no secret that I love Kiernan Shipka, and I just adore her hairstyle. I cut my hair a bit shorter than I’ve had it in a long time and I’ve been trying to find pretty ways to style it to maximize the new cut. This insta from Kiernan shows off a great deep side part that I love!

This week the trend

What a week. Mine was filled with snowy weather, busy days at work and coming down with a bit of a cold. All things considered, it was a decent week. Especially because every week that gets marked is another week closer to spring! I had a good amount of time to do some online shopping, browse some fun new appliances and get back into an old activity:

I’ve never been a huge fan of shorts – I have thighs and they do not love being constrained – but there are some truly good-looking ones coming out for spring. I’m especially in love with these pretty lace ones from LOFT! (Plus they’re marked down from $60 to $36, no code needed.)

I saw this gorgeous Bodum Eileen French Press on Instagram and knew I had to have it. What’s not to love about a gorgeous gold vessel for all the coffee you could ever want?

Everyone has a hobby that they always come back to time and again – mine is painting. This week I dug my watercolors and decided to play around to see what I could create. I love admiring the amazing work from different bloggers and Instagrammers who have really nailed down the craft.

Have a great weekend!
