I absolutely love this room. The colorful couch is a definite plus (some of my other favorite color options are here, here and here) – it makes the room instantly brighter and more fun. Matching the lamp to the couch ties the colors together, making for an effortlessly put-together look.
Can you believe we’re approaching the last week of October! Time has absolutely flown lately; the weeks are flying by, and before you know it we’ll be in the middle of the holiday season. Who else has already started making their holiday shopping lists? (I’m kind of a freak about it.)
Happy Friday! After a long week, I’m excited to have a little down time. When work is exhausting, you have to remember to treat yourself to a little rest and relaxation to recharge for the week ahead.
Blue and white inspiration seems to be everywhere, from ginger jars to the latest May Books! I think the classic pairing of these colors is one that will never die out; it is especially fitting in the summer, when black gets pushed to the side and color and light is everywhere.
I love a good pattern, and there seems to be tons of them on sale now. It may be the end of the season, but there’s still time to wear your bright whites and soft blues! See some pretty blue and white finds below.
I love a good swimwear brand. I don’t think you should have to pay a ton for a flattering suit that fits and is built to last! That’s why I was so excited when I came across North West Cartel, an Australian brand that chases eternal summer, and does a pretty good job of it. With each piece at $45, one of these suits is a total steal!
Their current collection comes in all black-and-white, which is the perfect backdrop for a tan and a colorful cover-up on the beach. Their blog is full of adorable beachy inspiration, too. See some of my favorites from their collection below.
I have always been a big supporter of natural makeup. I’ll always love my eyeliner and mascara, but the best beauty looks are the ones that keep the colors soft and neutral without being too heavy. Neutral eyes, full brows and a nude lip will go a long way! I rounded up my favorite nude and neutral beauty products that will help you get the look of barely-there makeup that’s sure to impress.

For me, preppy style is a no-brainer. The term originally referred to old private Northeastern university-preparatory schools, specifically New England. This led to an influx of the favorite nautical Breton stripe, pastel colors and equestrian detailing. Everything from oxfords, pearls, gold and boat shoes now equate to the ‘preppy’ name.
I love how these trends and styles have translated into home decor. Pretty white New England-style homes with crisp black shutters, wrap-around porches and a pop of color on the door are my favorites, but the exterior is just the beginning!
The interiors tend to have lots of white, with metallics and bright pops of color, stripes, nautical-themed finds (like the adorable oyster pillow below), pretty blue-and-white ginger jars and other classic pieces. I personally love the navy-and-white look for a crisp, simple look that will be stylish for years to come. (Is this couch to die for, or what?)

It seems as though at every turn, some trend from way-back-when is being brought back into the mainstream fashion world. I’m talking to you, overalls, flatforms (an ode to the ’90s creeper sandals) and choker necklaces. That’s why when I came across the open letter to resurrect J.Crew’s perfect scoop-back swimsuit, I was intrigued by the idea of some classic find from the ’90s making its way back, and me being completely on board with its return.
I was born in 1991, so I had my hand in wearing the good, the bad and the ugly trends that came along with the decade, but I wasn’t quite old enough to get into caring about the swimsuit styles of the era just yet. When I saw the suit that Jenni Avins was referencing in her article in The Cut, I totally understood her want. What a classic beauty! It’s such a flattering suit that is too simple to mess up. (Well, except apparently others had trouble getting it right.)
It’s no secret that West Elm is one of my favorite stores for home goods and furniture. While it may seem a bit pricey at times, if you do a little bit of digging around the sale section and wait for a great promotion, you can score some amazing finds. I recently bought some pillow covers from there, and they came to $8 a piece! You certainly can’t beat that price anywhere else, especially with such good quality and attention to design.
Today I’m focusing on their adorable nautical sale finds. The classic crisp red-white-and-blue theme of nautical flags and symbols are enough to draw me in, and it seems like they have everything you could imagine to follow the theme that is not only very appropriate for summertime, but also very classic. Everything from figurines and decor, as well as more functional pieces, like a jewelry tree, are on sale now. What’s not to love about being reminded of the ocean, boats and more relaxing days at every turn in your home?

I’m always looking for good ways to switch up the look of a room, and one of the best ways is to add art. It adds an instant touch of class and isn’t nearly as expensive as a new piece of furniture or a rug. IKEA has a great collection of inexpensive frames, as well as Target and Michael’s (especially if you have a weekly coupon!).
