The more the weather calls for sundresses and sandals, the less I feel like dressing up for work. However there are ways to make sure you keep your look polished and neat without having to forgo all of your favorite spring pieces.
There are a few rules I follow when I know I need to look my best in the office – and they’re all easy to do with things you probably already have in your closet!
leave the sandals at home
I love my sandals, but I also know how unprofessional they can sound smacking on the floor. When I know I have something important, like a meeting or a particularly busy day, I know that flats are certain to leave me looking professional and feeling comfortable. And they go great with dresses and pants alike.
add a layer
The classic stand-by: a blazer. Adding a blazer or jacket to an otherwise work-inappropriate sundress is a simple way to add class to your look – and it can even elevate your outfit to the business-casual level when paired with the right outfit, like a pretty pink pencil skirt.
top with a structured bag
While your adorable straw bag is perfect for weekends, keeping things office-appropriate is easiest with a structured leather tote! Plus it’s large enough to take home your laptop or any papers you might need without getting smashed, or being too tough to carry.
