Looking forward to fall, I want to decide the pieces that I’m willing to splurge on this year. It’s so necessary to have certain investment pieces in your closet, and today I’m focused on shoes and outerwear!
Because these are the things we wear the most (and repeat wearing the most), it’s important that they’re higher quality than something trendy we’d get. Especially as the weather gets cooler later in the year, it makes a huge difference if you buy something inexpensive as opposed to splurging a little. Feet have to be a little bit more protected from cold wind and rain, and a cheap coat can land you shivering as the wind blows through it. For years I’ve been going through the same pairs of pleather boots, but I can’t wait to splurge this fall. See my pieces that I’m totally happy to spend a bit more than usual on.
Trenches are so classic, and they can dress your look up easily. I wear mine (ASOS Petite Exclusive Trench with Nautical Lining $60) with everything from leggings to jeans to workwear! The longer silhouette makes for a much more pulled-together look, no matter what you’re wearing it for.
Once fall rolls around, I basically live in boots. It’s nice to have something a little bit more business-casual-friendly in a nice heeled bootie that you can get a ton of use out of! Keep it classic in black leather, or try a neutral suede for a different look.
I bought the J.Crew Stadium-Cloth Cocoon Coat $365 last year after swooning over it for a year, and it was one of my favorite purchases to date. It adds instant chic to have a fashionable coat to wear, especially when you have to wear one every day in the colder months.
Another staple in my closet for fall is a great pair of riding boots. This year I’m in the market for something new, both in cognac and black. Because they get so much wear, I’m definitely willing to splurge a little on a nice pair that will last.
