Snowed in

Happy Friday! After coming back from my trip to the mountains, I came down with a terrible flu full with chills, fever and body aches. Definitely no fun. I’m still on the road to recovery, but I’m finally well enough to get back to my laptop while cuddling up on the couch. We have a huge snowstorm coming through D.C. starting this afternoon, so I’m trying to prep for what’s to come.

We have definitely had crazy snowstorms in the area before – the most notable being in 1996 when I was just 5 years old, I still remember standing and looking at the feet of snow that surrounded me, when I started to cry and say how all I wanted was for spring to come. I still feel the same way mostly, but the older you get, the more you realize that life must go on. Here are some of my favorite ways to survive getting snowed in!

Get some friends to get snowed in together – prep yourself with plenty of wine, snacks and candles (in case the power goes out!). Make pajamas mandatory and snuggle the night away.

Cards Against Humanity $25 – funniest game I’ve ever played!

There’s nothing like hot chocolate to warm you up on a freezing cold night – try my favorite Crock-Pot recipe for white chocolate hot cocoa.

Threshold S/4 Avery Round Mugs $20

Bubble baths make it easy to forget the snow falling (and piling up) outside. Add a classic book for good measure, and layer up on the lip balm.

If you can’t beat them, join them. Sometimes the best way to survive a snow day is to get outside and have a snowball fight!
