Slowing down for the holidays

Can you believe we’re under ten days until Christmas? It sneaks up on me every single year, yet I’m never quite prepared in time. This year, I have managed to get all of my Christmas gifts (!!!), with most of them wrapped. However I have also managed to get sick again, making it hard to get into the spirit of the holidays.

I’ve found that when I’m sick, the best thing to do it knock things off my to-do list – it’s okay if the laundry sits for a few days, or if I don’t get around to going to the grocery store. A couple of days of relaxation and rest usually do the trick, along with lots of Vitamin C, liquids and sleep!

It’s also a good reminder that the holidays are supposed to be a celebration spent with family and loved ones, not just another thing to stress over and add to your list. (Hint: If you’re looking forward to Christmas being over, you might be working too hard at it!) Taking time to sit back and relax can help put things back into perspective, helping you better appreciate the reason for the season and keeping yourself healthy during the holiday (cold and flu) season.

  1. I really love your approach to this post, Amanda. I have yet to encounter a post where relaxation and peace have been suggested, as well as with some item suggestions to help set the mood. I must admit, I’ve allowed myself to get a bit stressed this season. With so much to do and plan, it can be easy, but it’s always great to have a small nudge to remind us that this is a season of peace; thank you 🙂

Moving forward, I highly suggest you take vitamin D3 everyday, starting at 1000IU (I hold a degree in science) because it’s amazing at strengthening your immune system; we all take it in my house and we rarely get sick (it’s been roughly a year). Research it to get some confirmation on this, but I assure you, you won’t get sick again any time soon!

I hope you’re having a wonderful day so far, beauty!
