On vacation time

My annual beach vacation is coming up sooner than I can believe, and I’m already getting excited at the thought of a week on a beach. There are few things better than waking up early and getting your tan on for a few hours before a leisurely lunch and lazy afternoon.

This summer I am all about bright patterns in my wardrobe – whether it be a swimsuit or a comfy pair of palazzo pants. They’re great to pair with simple wardrobe staples for a more interesting look. I also can’t forget the standard beach gear – sun protection in the form of eyewear and sunscreen. Check out my list for vacation essentials (and if you’re looking for some good beach reads, see my summer must-reads!).

J.Crew Pleated Back Tee $40 $8 code GOSHOPPING
This soft, boxy tee is perfect to throw on when you get that inevitable sunburn.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 55 $10
People tend to shy away from higher SPFs, but top dermatologists suggest that an SPF 50 is the perfect number for when you’re spending lots of time outdoors.

Mossimo Palazzo Soft Pant $20
I picked these up on a recent Target trip and I don’t know if I’ll ever take them off! They’re extremely comfortable and perfect for lounging.

Ted Baker Zana Round Sunglasses $172 $103
I found this pair at Nordstrom Rack in a different color, and I am completely sold! They’re big enough to look chic, but not too heavy on your face due to the thin metal frame.

Mara Hoffman Halter Tie Dress $280 $113
I love the fun pattern and colors on this dress! The halter gives it a perfectly beachy vibe for a night out to dinner.

J.Crew Adoré Patch Baseball Cap $40 $18 code GOSHOPPING
Something to keep the sun out of your eyes on hot days.

J.Crew Factory Printed Carrier Tote $59 $36 code FUNTIMES
This classic carrier comes in a fun print that will be easy to spot on a crowded beach.

Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray $6
It’s always nice to have a little product to help your hair along when drying it naturally – plus this smells like coconuts and will definitely get you in beach-mode!

Cathy’s Concepts Personalized Turkish Cotton Towel $38 $25
A cute alternative to a beach towel!

Nanette Lepore Maharaja Goddess One-Piece $148 $111
Patterns rule my beach bag this year – it isn’t named ‘goddess’ for nothing.
