Like a lady

I have always been a bit of a girly girl. I enjoy romantic comedies, girl talk and drinking wine. I love things that are pink and cute, I hate when my nails aren’t painted and I can’t resist pretty shoes. This probably led me toward the life of a sorority girl, which I fully embraced throughout my four years at the University of Maryland. Among the many things that being in Greek life taught me was holding myself to a higher standard in every aspect. (This doesn’t mean always having my hair straightened and lip gloss on.)

I joined multiple leadership positions both within my chapter and within the greater Panhellenic community, learned to speak publicly and lead a group, and practiced holding a conversation with a stranger. These experiences gave me immense self-confidence and talents that I may have never developed had I not decided to get involved. Having a group of my peers watching me and cheering me on was the most rewarding experience I have had in my life so far. That being said, it also pushed me to always be presentable and ready for anything at a moment’s notice. When you look your best, you tend to feel your best. Whether I feel like being dressed up, or I’d rather sit around in sweats all day, I know that pulling myself together with some pretty pieces will get my mind on track for what I need to accomplish.
