For years, I’ve been buying mostly drugstore brands for my makeup. I have always been a bargain shopper, so it’s no surprise that I love getting makeup for as inexpensively as possible. Even though I wear makeup every single day, I never thought to splurge too much on beauty products.
The problem with this is that you get what you pay for, and buying a $8 eyeliner is not the same as the $22 name-brand version. Makeup dupes are tricky because the product is not only in the applicator or the shape, but in the ability to stay on for as long as you’d like, without fading, crumbling or being difficult to apply.
A few months ago, I decided to splurge and get the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. It had really amazing reviews – everyone raved about it – and it isn’t far out of the range of what I’d usually pay for an inexpensive top. Well, it proved its worth and more with all-day staying power without fade! This got me thinking about other pieces in my makeup bag. If there’s a better eyeliner out there, there is certainly a powder that doesn’t require such frequent reapplication, or a mascara that won’t flake off midday. See my ideal beauty finds, which all have amazing reviews, that I plan to splurge on over time!
Note: I plan to replace my products as they run out, which is a great tactic. If you don’t buy everything at once, it isn’t so overwhelming to spend a bit more!
