It’s January, and the general population has fitness on the brain now more than ever. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t getting wrapped up in the New Year’s Resolution swarm – I’ve been hitting the gym more consistently and with more eagerness than I did in the ever-lazy month of December. I’m glad to be back in the game, as I feel so much better when I’m in a consistent fitness routine. Pick your poison, and a cute new outfit to go with it to jump-start your workouts!
Winter is not the best season for running, as the temperatures are unbearably cold and it can be difficult to get motivated. However treadmills are there to allow you to get that running high without braving icy air. I particularly adore these rose gold sneakers, which are great for running but would also be adorable with jeans or leggings for a laid back day.
If you’ve never done barre, it’s an incredible full-body workout that will leave you feeling like you really put your body to work. I love the feeling of accomplishment at the end of each class! You definitely want to dress light, and I adore the monochromatic look for an easy workout outfit.
A good friend (who also happens to be a certified personal trainer) recently set me up with an amazing fitness plan to help me go from I-have-no-idea-what-I’m-doing to I-can-do-this. I really enjoy having a set plan with a list of activities and reps, and having a workout for different muscle groups and different days so I don’t tire out too easily. My go-to? Simple black and white.
The ultimate restorative activity for me is yoga. I leave class floating, able to leave anxieties and stresses of the day behind. As for the workout itself, I like to get into the fun strappy bras that aren’t supportive enough for much else! I keep the leggings simple, and have a nice loose top that I feel comfortable in. Top it off with sneakers that are easy to slip on and off.
