Fashionable finds

The weekend is upon us, and I couldn’t be more grateful! (Even though it’s snowing here. UGH.) Tonight I am heading to Philadelphia to visit my best friend Raquel, so I’ve been eager for Friday to get here. This week I tried some new food, shopped around for amazing deals (as always) and found a great beauty product that will definitely be a staple:

A friend ordered this when we were out to breakfast one day and I was so intrigued. It looks like pudding with some little seeds in it, which is essentially what it tastes like. I know that chia seeds are great for you (according to WebMD they contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, antioxidants, and calcium – it doesn’t get much better than that) so I wanted to give it a try. I decided that rather than run the risk of trying it in public and hating it, I’d make my own.

I went to Trader Joe’s to get the chia seeds because they sell smaller bags that aren’t as expensive as any other regular grocery store ($5). The ‘pudding’ is super easy to make – you mix seeds, almond milk and flavors of your choosing. I made mine especially sweet to be certain I’d like the flavor – I ended up loving it! All you have to do is mix the ingredients, put the lid on and let it sit overnight. I also added some strawberries and almonds to make it a full breakfast.

1/4 c chia seeds || 1 c vanilla almond milk || 1 Tbsp honey
1/2 Tbsp vanilla extract || 1 Splenda packet

I paint my nails more often than most; I can’t stand having chipped nails, so I tend to use a lot of nail polish remover. I found this Zoya Remove+ nail polish remover ($9) and loved the idea of a pump where you just push the cotton ball onto the top. It’s super easy to use, and the nail polish remover works very well without drying out your nails.

I don’t know why, but I can’t seem to stop buying clothes that I know I can’t wear yet. It must be the incredibly good sales on just about everything – Target had dresses for buy-one-get-one-half-off, and ASOS consistently has gorgeous dresses on sale! If you’re looking for great finds, I’m always posting crazy deals on my ‘Fashionable Steals’ Pinterest board.

Also, who else take photos of yourself in clothes to get the best idea of how it looks on you? “I don’t rely on mirrors so I always take Polaroids” may be outdated from the days when Cher Horowitz was our idol, but pictures are really the best way to decide if you’re keeping it or returning it. (And I just happened to absolutely love every single one of these!)

I can’t stop buying pretty pastels to paint my nails with. For whatever reason I’m just completely avoiding the dark colors I usually love and I’m going for these pretty shades! I love changing up my nail color often, but I’ll definitely be staying in this color family in the near future (until summer comes and it’s all about bright pinks and oranges!).
