Design as you go

Adding pieces here and there is often the best way to design your home – it’s more cost effective than buying all at once, and allows you to see the holes in your decor rather than trying to envision it all at once.

I’ve done a bit of a round-up of gorgeous home items that would fit right into many different design schemes. My current home decor is pretty light and airy (lots of white with pops of color), so I like to keep that in mind when accessorizing.

Ginger Jar Patterned Tray | Horse Wall Hook | Bow Sham

I love the idea of using the ginger jar trend in an unexpected way – like a tray on your dresser. A brass hook, whether on the back of your door or next to your closet, is perfect for a robe or cozy sweater to grab in a hurry – and I love the horse detail. Finally, I’m obsessed with this bow sham. Adorable yet simple.

Topiary in Planter | Brass Makeup Brush Holder | Bee Hand Towel

Adding some green to a room is always a nice idea, and a fake plant will live through the varying temperatures in your bathroom. Put your brushes on display with this gorgeous brass-and-marble brush holder. And last, but not least, a kitschy bee towel with natural linen trim.

Empty Belly Wall Art | Acacia Wood Cutting Board | Marble Paddle Cutting Board

This wall art is so sweet, and fitting to read again and again during dinner. These cutting boards are beautiful enough to go on display on your counter, and they’re on sale now, making them a must-have.

Monogram Coaster* | S/12 Pencils | File Holder
*sold out of your initial? similar options here, here and here

A personalized coaster is a nice addition to your desk area. I keep things fairly tidy at my desk, so a set of patterned pencils is a fun pop of color. Keep pretty folders in sight and on your mind in this chic magazine holder, repurposed for the office.

Frosted Glass Globe Pendant | Wooden Bench | Sunburst Mirror

I love the idea of three of these pendant lamps hanging down a hallway – attention-grabbing without being in-your-face. This bench would do nicely along an empty wall for extra seating. I always love an extra mirror – they make the room look bigger and give you a peek at your hair whenever you’d like.
