This weekend, Eric and I celebrated six years (!!!) together. We met when I was 18, just graduated from high school, and he had just finished his freshman year at Maryland. We have come a long way since then, and we wanted to do something fun to celebrate.
We both love movies and there is an independent theater called E Street Cinema that screens new releases as well as independent, foreign and avant-garde flicks. We decided to give it a try, and the small theaters were cozy and perfect for a date. We saw The Diary of a Teenage Girl, which was a witty story about a young girl coming of age and finding herself in the wild years of the 1970s. With stars like Kristen Wiig and Alexander Skarsgård playing roles, I knew it would be a great movie. The main character, Minnie, plays a 15-year old girl chronicling her lonely teenage life full with sex, drugs and uncertainty on cassette tapes, which made for a compelling movie!
After the movie, we went to a wine bar and tapas restaurant called Barcelona, which was a lot of fun. I had never experienced tapas; if you haven’t, it’s essentially small plates. We ordered four to start and were stuffed by the end! We got tasty dishes such as Crispy Calamari, Albondigas (spiced meatballs in ham-tomato sauce) and Potato Tortilla. Everything was amazing – I can’t wait to go back!
I wore a favorite J.Crew Factory Pleated Shift Dress in Floral, along with Franco Sarto heeled sandals that were just the right height for walking a few blocks to the restaurant. I wore my kate spade new york Basket Pave Pendant Necklace for a bit of sparkle!
