Au naturale

I have always been a big supporter of natural makeup. I’ll always love my eyeliner and mascara, but the best beauty looks are the ones that keep the colors soft and neutral without being too heavy. Neutral eyes, full brows and a nude lip will go a long way! I rounded up my favorite nude and neutral beauty products that will help you get the look of barely-there makeup that’s sure to impress.

I’ve recently fallen in love with the highlighter stick (but then again, who hasn’t?). If you want to splurge, The Multiple by NARS in Copacabana $39 is the cult classic that is the perfect multi-use tool. I got a similar product at Target from Sonia Kashuk – the Chic Luminosity Highlighter Stick in Persian Sunset $11. It’s an amazing swap at a third of the price!

I also love nude nails; there’s nothing more simple and feminine to manicure your nails with. Luckily this trend has been getting bigger, so there are tons of options, from the less expensive butter LONDON’s Nearly Nude set to Christian Louboutin’s ‘The Nudes’ collection. Shades I love: Essie Perennial Chic $9, 4 Allure for butter LONDON Nude Stilettos $155 Burberry Beauty No. 100 Nude Beige $22, and 6 Christian Louboutin Just Nothing $50.

A great moisturizing facial spray that I use to keep my face looking and feeling refreshed is 7 Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater $7. It’s a nice way to give your skin a bit of moisture with a nice light scent.

I’m definitely partial to a good lip color that isn’t lipstick; I tend to be bothered by something on my  lips all day. Clinique’s Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Curviest Caramel $17 is a great alternative, seeing as it’s a balm with a great barely-there color. Revlon carries something similar in the 9 ColorBurst Matte Balm in Complex $10.

I definitely can’t talk nude beauty looks without mentioning the Urban Decay Naked palettes! I am just getting ready to splurge on one, and they are a great value for what you get. The 10 Naked Palette $54 comes with 12 bronze-hued eyeshadows, the Naked2 $54 with cooler-toned taupe-hued shades, and Naked3 $54 has more rose-colored shadows. These are all great for getting a subtly neutral look. If you’re looking for a comparable drugstore equivalent at a lesser price, Maybelline has come out with 11 The Nudes Palette $10 and The Blushed Nudes Palette $10, which will give you similar color options!

One of the more important aspects of a natural makeup look is full brows. Ever since I started doing this one extra step in my beauty routine, I’ve noticed a huge difference in my overall look. I’ve tried brow kits with wax and powder, but they tend to be messy and I am usually on the go when I’m doing my makeup. Now I stick with a pencil, like 12 Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz $21. The trick is to make sure you have the right color for your brows – anything too dark will look too intense!
