April beauty buys

Happy April! I took a trip to my local Ulta Beauty while I was home and did a bit of browsing. I had been seeking out a great new perfume, and I was finally able to settle on one! I also have a couple of fabulous makeup finds and a new shampoo to keep my blonde looking bright.

Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick

This came to me as a free deluxe sample with Sephora Flash. I liked the idea of a concealer stick that I could throw in my bag for long days when some extra coverage throughout the day is nice to have, so it seemed like the perfect solution. And I have to say, I love it even more than I had expected! The coverage is flawless but not caked on, and I love the smooth, creamy formula. Not all foundation sticks are made equal – this is worth the splurge. (I went with Normous Neutral, which is a neutral pink shade for fair skin tones with neutral undertones.)

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium

I love perfume. I think having a light scent that defines you is ideal, and this perfume has achieved exactly that. It is a bit sweet and very feminine, with a bright floral scent. Some perfumes will bother my nose (does anyone else have this problem?) so I tend to try on scents to wear them around before I buy. Thankfully this one wasn’t a problem! It’s long-lasting, but also comes in a 0.33 oz travel size spray bottle if you want to have it on the go.

Sephora Collection Retractable Brow Pencil

I had heard about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and how it was an amazing brow pencil. However when I saw the competing Sephora option for nearly half the price, I figured it was worth a try. I’m glad I did because the fine tip is perfect for what I wanted, the formula goes on easily, and it gives my brows a natural yet full look.

Paul Mitchell Blonde Platinum Blonde Shampoo

I get highlights every six weeks or so, and I love my bright blonde. My hair tends to get particularly gold if I don’t get color regularly, but this purple shampoo has been a total game changer. The shampoo itself is a dark, royal purple that gets rid of unwanted brassiness. You lather as you usually would, leave it on your hair for 1-5 minutes (the longer, the better!), and you’re set. I highly recommend, as it’s also in a great price range compared to other brands.
